Jonathan Garino, MD

Because of his special interest in alternate bearing surfaces in joint replacement as well as ceramics and their applications in orthopedics, Dr. Jonathan P.Garino, MD, brings unique qualifications to Board of FARM. He cares deeply about FARM's mission and willingly assists in getting the message out to patients about advanced orthopedic treatments and applications. In addition to being the Medical Director of the University of Pennsylvania Bone & Tissue Bank, Dr.Garino is also an Assistant Professor of orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, he lectures around the world at society and medical meetings on topics relating to orthopedics and arthroplasty and is the chairman for the annual Alternate Bearing Systems in Total Hip Arthroplasty meetings.

Graduating cum laude with an MD degree from Georgetown University, School of Medicine, in Washington, D.C., Dr. Garino was promoted with distinction and inducted to Alpha Omega Alpha in this third year of medical school. He completed his residency program in orthopedic surgery at the New York orthopedic Hospital at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. Dr.Garino held a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr.Garino's professional memberships include the Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO); the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA); the Scientific Research Society; American Medical Association; the American Academy of orthopedic Surgery; and the Association for Standards in Testing and Materials (ASTM).
